Biography
Gerard Orozco is Vice President and Executive Client Account Manager for Jacobs. Based in Los Angeles, he specializes in advancing Jacobs’ interests throughout the country, and manages relations with elected and appointed officials who run agencies and initiatives.
After holding several posts at the federal and local levels (including leadership positions at many infrastructure companies like URS and STV), Gerard joined Jacobs (formerly CH2M) 16 years ago. Over the years, he developed deep rooted contacts and trust at local, state and federal entities, and now helps guide strategies to serve utilities, transit agencies, healthcare, and public works clients.
With early career roles in public service, Gerard learned both the value of hard work and how to get things done. He spent time in the LA City Legislative Analyst’s office coordinating council agendas and committee traffic; and coordinated efforts to merge transit and planning entities into the LAMTA of today, by managing the state legislative process toward compliance with state law, embarking upon one of the largest public works building programs in the country.
The negotiating and leadership skills Gerard learned through the process of working the merger legislation into law were invaluable. In DC, he works with a legislative government affairs team to monitor and mold legislation helpful to the industry. He directs resources to manage issues of the day and uses his vast network to strengthen the company agenda with decision makers, and his relationships with legislators, the administration and staff help clear a path for success.
Gerard is an active member of the community and serves on several boards, including the BABC LA, the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, the LA Regional Chamber of Commerce, UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Policy, and previously the US Committee for UNICEF. He is also active with the LA Conservation Corps, Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project, and Business Executives for National Security.
