Ellis O’Connor

Ellis O’Connor is a principal at MSD Partners, an SEC-registered investment adviser formed in 2009 by the partners of MSD Capital, which exclusively manages the assets of Michael S. Dell and his family.

Previously, he served as an asset manager/owner’s representative for MSD Hospitality, overseeing MSD Capital’s portfolio of prominent hospitality assets. Most recently he served as the General Manager of the iconic Santa Monica landmark property. Prior to his post at the Fairmont Miramar, he served as the General Manager of Ian Schrager’s Gramercy Park Hotel. Previously, he spent ten years as Hotel Manager with Peninsula Hotels, mostly in Beverly Hills and partly in New York.

Ellis began his career with Cunard Hotels as an Assistant Manager with The Stafford Hotel in London, and later transferred within the company to The Ritz London as Front Office Manager. During this time, The Ritz was taken over by Mandarin Oriental, which resulted in cross exposure with the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong and hence the introduction to The Peninsula Group, which he later joined. He holds an MBA from Pepperdine University in Malibu California and a degree in Hotel Catering and Hospitality Management from Thames Valley University in London, England. Ellis currently serves as an Executive Member of the board on Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and Santa Monica CVB.
